因為我不是共產主義者,我不說話;
因為我不是猶太人,我不說話;
因為我不是工會成員,我繼續不說話;
因為我不是天主教徒,我還是不說話;
They came
first for the Communists,
and I
didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I
didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I
didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I
didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by
that time no one was left to speak up.

當納粹黨來抓共產黨的時候,我沒有站出來為他們說話,因為我不是共產黨;
當納粹黨來抓猶太人的時候,我沒有站出來為他們說話,因為我不是猶太人;
當納粹黨來抓工會的人的時候,我沒有站出來為他們說話,因為我不是工會的人;
當納粹黨來抓天主教徒的時候,我沒有站出來為他們說話,因為我是基督徒,不是天主教徒;
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I did not speak out
because I was not a communist.
When they came for the social democrats,
I did not speak out
because I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew;
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
